Catherine O’Brien, Ph.D., a professor at Cape Breton University in Nova Scotia, discovered the link between sustainable living and happiness while working on her doctorate at Barefoot College in Rajasthan, India, in the mid-1990s.
That thought became the basis for her concept of Sustainable Happiness, which she teaches in a popular course at the university, combining principles of positive psychology with a sustainability mindset.
